History of Fowler & Hammer Robert "Bob" Fowler, P.E., a civil engineering graduate of Marquette University, founded Fowler and Hammer, Inc. on January 22, 1963. Bob truly loved his work from his early experience with a large concrete contractor to his war years as a Navy Seabee constructing airfields throughout the Pacific Ocean.
His simple formula for success stressed quality construction and competitive prices to guarantee customer satisfaction and build long-lasting relationships. Bob's work ethic continues with a new generation. Today, James Fowler, P.E., and Susan Fowler Christopherson lead a team of dedicated construction professionals.
Bob was fascinated with draft horses and the teamwork they displayed. Fowler and Hammer actually bought a team of Belgians named "King and Queen" to clear the land where the company is located today at 157 Sumner Place in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The horses were stabled in the company yard in what is still referred to as "the horse barn." Retired Superintendent Ron Galewski handcrafted our "mascot team" from black walnut and presented them to Jim, Sue and Company on Fowler and Hammer's 30th anniversary in 1993.
We invite you to "PUT OUR TEAM TO WORK FOR YOU!"
